Determine backset of lock to be installed (2-3/8” or 2-3/4”). Depress stop catches to set the two adjustable stops for either 2-3/8” or 2-3/4” backset. Insert the 1” bit in the end bushing and the 2-1/8” bit in the side bushing.
With the boring bits fully retracted, place jig on door at required height, 38” from floor (check instruction sheet enclosed with the lock set), clamping lightly onto door by turning cross handle. Adjust stop screw to make jig jaws parallel to door. This is very important or jig will not clamp securely. Tighten cross handle.
The drill adapter makes changing bits quick and easy. Tighten adapter in drill chuck, then slip onto bit with a twisting motion until it locks into place. Retract sleeve to release.
After boring holes in door, remove jig and insert marking tool in latch bore. With door closed, press marker against jamb to provide center point for boring bolt well. Drill 1” hole into jamb for bolt well. Drill deep enough to clear latch bolt.
